From Valdez, drive over Thompson Pass to the plowed pullout near mile post 29 on the Richardson Highway. This is between Worthington Glacier and the Tailgate area. Cross the road and trend looker's right of the main drainage, as shown in the topo and photo below. Contour into the gully as it opens up. As you ascend the gully, favor the looker's right half of the gully, heading back toward the middle when getting on the toe of the glacier. It's over 30 degrees to gain the ridge in the upper bowl.
